Georgia construction equipment demand
If you sell or rent construction equipment in Georgia, this page gives you a way to get to know the jobs and contractors across the state. Filmore brings together construction project and permit records, plus equipment details from company filings. You'll find companies to look into, the kinds of machines they have on file, and a map of construction jobs. We've also looked into some of the projects behind those records, from Rivian's factory near Social Circle to new public buildings in Savannah and South Georgia.
Plateau Excavation has 82 excavators and 64 dozers on file.

Factory sites and public building work across Georgia
Rivian's factory near Social Circle gives you a sense of how much work can sit behind one project name. Clayco is building the plant. Plateau Excavation lists a 730-acre sitework package that includes clearing, moving soil, and putting in storm drains, sewer, and water lines. The factory is under construction, but that sitework description covers Plateau's overall scope, not a list of tasks all happening this week.
In Savannah, the new dental school on Georgia Southern's Armstrong Campus is further along. Crews had steel up by October, with an opening planned for 2028. Across town, Chatham County's new public safety building topped out in August and is expected to be finished in 2027. Both are sizable building jobs, with different schedules from a site that's just getting started.
The statewide list reaches well beyond these larger projects. It includes commercial buildings, industrial sites, hospitals, and public facilities alongside a much larger number of housing records. Atlanta has the largest group of jobs in this first set of regional pages. Savannah, Athens, and Valdosta each have their own mix of work, which we cover in more detail below.
Who to call
Contractors and the equipment they run
The company list helps put names to the different kinds of work. Austell-based Plateau takes on large earthmoving jobs, including the site package at Rivian. Strack, based in Fairburn, handles grading and utilities, with crews that also do drilling and blasting, railroad work, and boring beneath existing roads or other obstacles.
Farther south, Reames & Son builds roads and prepares sites from its Valdosta base. It also produces asphalt at plants across South and Middle Georgia. Around Savannah, Dustcom clears land, moves soil, installs utilities, and carries sites through grading and paving. Their equipment records give you a view of each business, though they don't tell you which machines are working at a particular address.

About the data on this page
New-build jobs include homes, commercial buildings and other new construction. Maintenance and renovation work aren't in these counts. The map shows jobs with coordinates, so it won't include every job in the list.
Some project records don't include permits. That doesn't mean the job has no permits. The stories also draw on owner, builder and public-agency updates. A story may discuss a development left out of the totals because its record is duplicated or incorrectly classified. Grouped markers on large maps keep a location from one of the jobs they represent, rather than showing every address separately.
Contractors are matched through offices or project activity in this market. Fleet details are company-wide equipment on file, not verified purchases or a count of machines at these sites. Public filings often arrive 30–90 days after the event. The refresh badge is the page's update date; individual dates appear in the tables.
