County buildings and smaller commercial sites
In Watkinsville, Oconee County is planning a new EMS building and facilities shop behind Fire Station No. 1. The plans at 7580 Macon Highway show two buildings on a little over two acres of work area, with parking and space around them. The county sought a construction manager in October. That's a planned public job, with construction still to follow the selection process.
Along Atlanta Highway, Lidl's proposed store has a longer history. Athens-Clarke County reviewed a fresh set of building plans for 3201 Atlanta Highway in December 2025 after earlier plans had been withdrawn. The project records now put the site at earthwork, though the planning documents alone don't confirm what's happening there today. It remains a useful address to know, with that timing still worth checking.
UGA's new medical school is much further along. The university's August update described mechanical systems being tested and interior finishes and landscaping still ahead, with a December dedication planned. That puts it near the end of its main building work. The smaller commercial and public projects around the area offer a different view of what's coming next.

Bray Siteworks, based in Bogart, handles clearing and grading, then installs drainage and underground utilities. Its work includes building roads and preparing parking areas for residential and commercial developments. The company's project list also includes schools, such as Carver Middle School and Gaines School Elementary. Those are examples of its experience, not claims that those campuses are new jobs today.
Price Pipeline is another Bogart company in the equipment records. Its work includes water and sewer lines, and its filings list excavators, dozers, and articulated dump trucks. Together, these profiles give you a closer look at local site and utility contractors. We haven't confirmed either company as a contractor for the EMS buildings or Lidl.

For the Oconee County buildings, the site plans give more detail than the project name: a roughly 6,000-square-foot maintenance shop and a 2,500-square-foot EMS building. A construction start date hasn't been confirmed in the sources we've checked.
