Savannah construction equipment demand

Looking for construction work around Savannah? Filmore brings local project and permit records together with equipment details from company filings. This page covers Savannah, Pooler, Richmond Hill, and the surrounding three-county area. You can get to know the contractors, look through job addresses, and see where the work is on a map. We've also checked the stories behind a few of the larger sites, so there's more to go on than a project name and a stage label.

Dustcom has 20 excavators and 24 dozers on file.

The local picture

New public buildings alongside industrial construction

Savannah has two large public building projects at different points in construction. On Georgia Southern's Armstrong Campus, the new Dental College of Georgia broke ground this spring. By October, crews had raised its steel frame. Whiting-Turner is part of the construction team, and the school is expected to open in summer 2028.

Near the airport, Chatham County is building an 83,000-square-foot public safety facility at 654 Gulfstream Road. Its structure topped out in August. The plans include backup water, power, and other building systems so the facility can keep operating during a major storm. The county expects completion in 2027, so the topping-out ceremony marked progress on a job that still has work ahead.

There's a wider mix beyond those public buildings. Industrial and warehouse projects appear around the region, along with smaller commercial sites and healthcare construction. Most of the listed jobs are in Chatham County. Bryan and Effingham add work around Richmond Hill, Rincon, and nearby communities, though the records cover those areas less heavily.

Who to call

Contractors and the equipment they run

Dustcom grew from water-main work into a site contractor that handles clearing, earthmoving, underground utilities, and paving. Its work includes the drainage and road construction needed to turn a cleared parcel into a finished development. Dozers and excavators make up a substantial part of its equipment records.

J.L. Hardin may be a less familiar name in the table, but it's the company behind HARCO Construction in Bloomingdale. HARCO handles mass grading, water and sewer systems, storm drains, and asphalt and concrete paving. Its filings include excavators and articulated dump trucks. These company profiles describe their work across the area; they don't establish a role at the dental school or the county's public safety building.

About the data on this page

New-build jobs include homes, commercial buildings and other new construction. Maintenance and renovation work aren't in these counts. The map shows jobs with coordinates, so it won't include every job in the list.

Some project records don't include permits. That doesn't mean the job has no permits. The stories also draw on owner, builder and public-agency updates. A story may discuss a development left out of the totals because its record is duplicated or incorrectly classified. Grouped markers on large maps keep a location from one of the jobs they represent, rather than showing every address separately.

Contractors are matched through offices or project activity in this market. Fleet details are company-wide equipment on file, not verified purchases or a count of machines at these sites. Public filings often arrive 30–90 days after the event. The refresh badge is the page's update date; individual dates appear in the tables.
