Louisiana construction equipment demand

If you sell or rent construction equipment in Louisiana, Filmore helps you get to know the jobs and contractors in your area. We bring together project and permit records, then use company filings to show what equipment contractors have on file. This page covers the state, with closer looks at New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport. You'll find warehouse plans, school construction, and work on roads and utilities, along with the companies doing that kind of work. The equipment counts cover each whole company. They don't tell us which machines are at a jobsite.

New buildings, roads, and underground work

A building permit can tell you quite a bit about the work around a new building. In Prairieville, plans for a storage site on Highway 42 include grading, utilities, and two buildings. In Lafayette, a new school is planned for the north half of the J.W. Faulk campus. The permit says the old school will stay open during construction, then come down once the new one is ready.

The warehouse plans along the Mississippi add another type of work. At the former Avondale shipyard, an August application calls for a roughly 200,000-square-foot warehouse shell. Farther upriver in Gonzales, two June applications cover separate warehouse shells on Highway 44. Both sets of plans were still under review in the records we checked. They show what's proposed, without telling us that crews have started.

There's also construction beyond the new buildings listed here. Baton Rouge's I-10 widening includes bridge and retaining-wall work. In New Orleans, Fleming Construction is rebuilding four blocks of Arabella Street, including underground utilities and drainage. Neither road project is included in the new-building totals below.

Who to call

Contractors and the equipment they run

The contractor list gives you a starting point for understanding who's in the market and what they build. Beard Construction Group, based in Port Allen, handles industrial sitework, concrete structures, roads, and driven piles. Its company filings include excavators and articulated dump trucks. Fleming Construction in Kenner works on paving and underground water, sewer, and drainage lines. The city names Fleming as the general contractor for the Arabella Street work.

In Youngsville, Glenn Lege Construction clears sites, moves dirt, installs drainage, and builds roads. Its work includes subdivisions as well as commercial and public projects. These profiles describe the companies' work and equipment records. A company appearing here doesn't mean it's working on every nearby project.

Construction jobs to check in Louisiana

The Prairieville storage plans cover two buildings totaling about 69,000 square feet, along with grading and utilities. Other jobs below range from a new school in Lafayette to warehouse plans along the Mississippi. Some are still awaiting permits, so an estimated stage doesn't mean crews have started.

About the data on this page

New-build jobs include homes, commercial buildings and other new construction. Maintenance and renovation work aren't in these counts. The map shows jobs with coordinates, so it won't include every job in the list.

Contractors are matched through offices or project activity in this market. Fleet details are company-wide equipment on file, not verified purchases or a count of machines at these sites. Public filings often arrive 30–90 days after the event. The refresh badge is the page's update date; individual dates appear in the tables.
