Construction equipment demand now lives in Microsoft Teams

Filmore is opening early access to a Copilot agent for Microsoft Teams. Equipment sales reps can ask for construction equipment demand data in a direct message and get the answer inside Teams, where many dealer teams already work.

The idea is simple. A rep should be able to ask a question from the truck and get an answer they can use before the next customer visit.

Here's what that looks like in the field.

Dealers have more data than their reps can use

Every equipment dealer and rental company we talk with has more data than ever.

They have project and permit data. They have equipment ownership records from UCC filings. They have customer history in the CRM and ERP. Many also have service records and telematics data that tell them how a machine is being used.

The information that can point to the next sale, rental, or service opportunity already exists. But most of it sits in different systems, and the salesperson in the field cannot get to it when they need it.

So the sales team falls back on relationships and intuition. The best reps learn how to create their own luck. They know which roads to drive, which jobsites to pass, and which customers to call. That works, but it's hard to teach and even harder to scale across a team.

We built Filmore to give every rep a better starting point.

Why we put Filmore in Microsoft Teams

Equipment salespeople spend a lot of their day in the truck. They work from a phone between customer visits. Asking them to open another dashboard, remember another password, and learn another system creates more work before they can get an answer.

Microsoft Teams is already part of the day for many dealer teams. That makes it a natural place for a rep to talk with Filmore.

A rep can open Teams, send Filmore a direct message, and ask:

Show me the active projects in Loudoun County.

Filmore can bring the demand data into the conversation. The rep doesn't have to translate a record dump or build a spreadsheet before deciding what deserves attention.

One question should lead to the next

Finding a project is only the beginning of a sales workflow.

The next questions are usually about the people and equipment connected to the job:

  • Who is building it?
  • What equipment does that contractor run?
  • Is there a lease or replacement window coming up?
  • What other accounts should I visit while I am in the area?

We're taking this experience further. A rep will be able to start with construction activity in a territory, follow the signal to the contractors and fleets involved, add current account research, and build a route for the day.

The first version gives reps access to construction equipment demand data inside Teams. We're working toward the rest of that conversation now.

The goal is more time with customers

This is early, and we expect the way reps use the agent to change as they get it into the field.

The outcome we care about will stay the same. Equipment salespeople should spend less time digging through systems and more time talking with customers.

When a rep can see where demand is forming, understand who is involved, and decide where to go next, windshield time becomes more useful. The rep has a better chance of reaching the right account at the right time.

That's what we want Filmore to do. Give equipment sales teams the information they need, in the tools they already use, so they can sell, rent, and service more equipment.
